WATER SPORTS
The beautiful Lake Zell, which is just 5 minutes from the chalet, offers countless opportunities for water sports and water based activities. Whether you're looking to hire a boat to leisurely cruise across the crystal clear water, or you'd like to get your adrenaline levels seriously pumping with some exhilarating water sports, you'll find what you're looking for on the shores of Lake Zell. Kayaking, windsurfing, wake-boarding, & parasailing...the list goes on, so why not put on your swimmers and head down to the lake to give some of them a go.
STAND-UP PADDLE
BOARDING & KAYAKING
Both stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking offer fun ways to explore water, whether that's paddling across lakes; riding ocean waves or meandering down rivers. With endless access points to the waters of the lake and multiple rental spots for both types of equipment, you can pick and choose where to start your Kayaking or SUP adventure, ensuring that each time you hit the waters for a paddle it will be a different experience. A favourite pastime of ours is to pack up some food for dinner, and head down to the lake for a sunset kayak. There's something just so bewitching about gently gliding on the lake as the sun sets behind the mountains turning the sky in to an explosion of colours.
SAILING &
BOAT HIRE
Lake Zell offers a number of different ways for you to explore the lake if sailing is more of your thing. Rowing boats, pedalos and electric boats are all available to rent at various providers around the lake, so you'll be spoilt for choice on your holiday here. There are even banana boats if you fancy something a little different! Taking a trip on the MS Schmitten boat on the lake is also a must whilst here on a summer holiday. You get to sit back and soak up the stunning views of the Hohe Tauern and Stoney Sea mountain ranges, whilst the boat takes you on a cruise around the lake. Advent tours also run in the month of December, with mulled wine a festive treats to help get you in the Christmas spirit.
WATERSKIING &
WAKEBOARDING
Water skiing and wake boarding are both such thrilling sports. When you're first learning how to do either of them, you're bound to spend a lot of time being flung in to the water. Naturally this is a whole load of fun in itself, but the real magic happens when you properly start to get the hang of it. The sheer adrenaline that you feel as you're gliding across the water on either your water skis or wakeboard is just incredible, and we're sure that once you get the hang of it, you'll keep coming back for more. To tailor to this, the water ski school here offers various packages from just one round to multiple, to make sure you get your fill.
WINDSURFING &
KITE SURFING
Similar to shooting down a snowy mountain on skis or a snowboard in winter, gliding across waters whilst windsurfing or kite surfing offers such a sense of freedom. Although a little tough to get the hang of when you first start out, they're both so much fun and incredibly satisfying sports. There are multiple rental places around the lake that offer equipment rental for you to give them a go. Don't be put off if you've never tried them before - like all of the other water sports on Lake Zell, there are various places around the lake where you can sign up for a lesson or possibly even a course. All levels are welcome, from complete beginners to the more advanced looking to refresh their skills.
PARASAILING
If you've ever done parasailing or paragliding before, you'll understand why we recommend them as something people should give a go as a fun holiday activity. Seeing an area from the sky offers a completely different and exciting perspective, and will leave a lasting impression. With parasailing you get to sit back and float through the air, whilst being pulled across the lake by an electric boat. Paragliding excursions offer even more height, as excursions often start at the top of the Schmittenhöhe mountain - commencing flight at 1,965m offers an unbeatable outlook over the lake and the Hohe Tauern National Park.
