As some of you may already know, Chris and I moved to Austria back in 2018. We packed up our corporate lives in London, and followed our dream to live in the mountains. Some of you may be familiar with the mantra "the mountains are calling and I must go" - something that we have both always felt to our very cores.
We used to spend every holiday possible in the mountains, whether in Austria, France, Switzerland or Italy. Wherever the mountains were calling, we would go. Through our travels, we developed a real soft spot for Austria. The breathtaking scenery; the endless hiking and biking opportunities in summer, and the huge ski networks in winter. So we decided Austria was the place to turn our dream of living in the mountains in to a reality.
Our first venture was the Landhaus Bergner Alm chalet, a holiday rental property in the Austrian Alps, which we bought back in 2017. The chalet is just 5 minutes from the beautiful Lake Zell, and is situated centrally in the year-round holiday destination of Salzburgerland. The activities and attractions are in their abundance at any time of year. The hiking trails are endless, and the ski networks are extensive.
Through running the Landhaus Bergner Alm chalet, our love for Austria grew even more, as did our love for sharing this beautiful country with our guests. So in 2020, we decided to set up the holiday company 'Austrian Alpine Retreats', a company aimed at offering a portfolio of properties to guests and facilitate their holidays in our very own Austrian retreats.
At the end of 2021, with some stroke of luck, we were able to buy the most beautiful holiday hut in the Kitzbüheler Alps of Tirol. Set in the forest, surrounded by trees and mountains, Hütte Waldzeit is our very own nature retreat. The hut is made completely out of natural wood and stone materials, offering an harmonious back-to-nature feel. There is an abundance of hiking and cycling routes near the hut, and it's just minutes from the ski network SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser Brixental. A true paradise in the mountains.
