We feel like the last year has just flown by, and have no doubt that many of you will feel the same. We've had a year filled to the brim of exciting Austrian adventures, and have implemented some great developments at the Landhaus Bergner Alm to make the chalet even more cosy. The last year also saw us expand on our portfolio of Austrian alpine retreats, with a beautiful little holiday hut in Tirol called Hütte Waldzeit - a dream that transformed in to a reality!
To celebrate the year 2022, we decided to treat ourselves to a magical horse-drawn sleigh ride in the Hohe Tauern National Park; an experience that both Chris and I have been keen to try since we moved to Austria all those years ago. Needless to say, the experience didn't disappointed. The enchanting sleigh ride took us on an hour long tour through the Kötschachtal, surrounded by towering mountains and through dense alpine forest as fresh snow gently fell from the clouds above. The only noise to disturb the silence was the slight crunching of the snow under the sleigh as it meandered through the mountains. Totally serene!
The middle point of the tour was the picturesque Alpenhaus Prossau, where the horses tucked away in the warmth of a barn for an hour, and we ourselves tucked in to some hearty Austrian food, before heading back in the direction we came from for another hour long journey on the magical horse drawn sleigh. The Alpenhaus Prossau is a beautiful mountain hut that literally is picture perfect and should definitely be added to your list of Austrian huts to visit! In fact, the whole tour from start to finish was just incredible, and we can only recommend it. For us, it was a truly memorable way to finish 2022!
